Burnham 2nd v Chelsmford 3rd (10-22)

Burnham kicked off against Chelmsford fielding the youngest side for many years. This is a reflection of the clubs flourishing youth development policy. The first half saw Chelmsford exploit the inexperience of the Burnham side as they scored a good try through a superior pack, jammed with wily old heads. A few kicks from Chelmsford saw them take a healthy lead by the end of the first half.

However, in the second half youth triumphed over experience as old legs tired and the pace of the Burnham locks began to tell. Liam at SH was able to deliver good ball to the centers. Palmer and Brinkman who in turn gave the wingers Dallimore and Dave, plenty of opportunity to run at the Chelmsford line.

This strategy resulted in a cheeky grubber kick turning the Chelmsford backs too slowly to stop Burnham from sprinting through the gap to score a superb try. Burnham spent the remainder of the half putting pressure on the chelmsford line but couldn't quite find the right pass to score again.

In short, a very close match showing much promise for the coming season - Keep it up lads!
