4 of Burnham On Crouch Under 15's squad were selected to represent Essex in matches against Bedfordshire on Sunday 7th January 2007.

Jamie Bache, in his second season for Essex, was chosen to Captain the 'A'
Team. Despite a valiant effort, they were beaten 38 12. However, they showed strength and determination and are looking forward to their next match at Westcliff on 28th January.

Jamie Bache has already been chosen to participate in the Saracens academy.
The North London Club, currently 6th in the Premiership spotted Jamies talent at an Essex game last season.

Paul King, another of Burnham's Under 15's, was chosen to Captain the 'B'
team and played a full game at scrum half. They held Bedfordshire to a
15 -15 draw. Second half appearances were made by Adam Vaughan and Terry Smith, both also from Burnham.

Further Burnham players went along to support their team members, Ross Rawinsky and Nic Gandy both having been selected for Essex trials earlier this year. Reece Kirsch was also there cheering them on.

The success of this squad has been encouraged by Andy Bache, father of Jamie and former senior squad member of Burnham On Crouch R U F C, who is their head coach, assisted by Steve Pender whose son also plays in the squad. They have also received support and coaching from Caswell Becker, head of physical education at St.Peter's High School, where all boys attend, and also head coach at Burnham On Crouch R U F C.

These County selections are indicative of the growing strength of the youth squads at Burnham On Crouch R U F C. The full squad is now 200 children aged from 5 to 18. Training takes place on Sundays at 10.00am (unless away fixtures are taking place). We encourage anyone to come down and see what we are up to. There's always a hot drink and bacon roll on offer!
